Introduction

Demographic aging being the one of the greatest social problems of our days, leading very often to social exclusion situations, it is pressing to involve the elderly population in activities that allow them to feel citizens of full right.

Objectives

- To provide students with the attendance of classes and courses where their knowledge can be shared, valued and enlarged;
- To promote adult education, based on a model of shared knowledge: a student can also be a teacher;
- To develop activities promoted by and to the students;
- To promote recreational activities, providing an enhanced knowledge of Portuguese history and culture;
- To promote and support the social volunteers;
- To develop actions of social, personal and professional training for the whole community;
- To fight isolation and social exclusion of the elderly ;
- To prepare active citizens for retirement;
- To promote the investigation and professional training in the area of Gerontology;

Expected results

- To contribute to an active citizenship of the elderly
