Introduction |
Being an inmate or a former inmate is one of the most difficult positions to be in when it comes to integration; in this context, education is a fundamental tool. It is even more important and meaningful if it is developed as an alternative educational path, able to combine learning methods and continuous life-experience, in such a way as to profit with the formal, non-formal and informal education processes, in order to encourage the (re)integration of (former) inmates in the work force.
Objectives |
Helping people from vulnerable social groups and marginal social contexts, with a high level of probability of returning to these contexts once released from prison. The intention is to provide them with an educational path (with skill transference as well as ability and skills’ awareness) so that they will obtain an educational process and an experience of “continuity” (actual opportunity of a job experience), as part of the restorative process.

Expected results |
The development of an educational instrument, able to activate a learning process as well as a continual experience, is a powerful tool, aligned with the principle of restorative justice. Each of the project’s partners will translate the Educational Tool into his or hers mother tongue and extend it to the Prison Educational System, as a method able to combine the positive effects of restorative justice (continual experience) with the central role of the educational process (rendering the sessions).
With this tool it is intended that the opportunities of social and labour reintegration will be heightened and, beyond that, it is expected that the project is seen as a good real practice that can be integrated in the work market’s active policies’ system, thanks to the appreciation process. |
